Manage Nameservers, A-Records and CNAMES
The DNS records of any domain purchased through our service can be managed via the Domains tab of your account.
Find the domain whose records you want to alter and click the Manage button.
Then choose the DNS and Name Servers tab.
What you do next depends on which records you want (or have been asked) to change.
If you decide to host your website somewhere other then Weebly, then you'll need to point your domain to the location of the new site. Your new host should provide you with either Nameservers (ns1.example.com), IP Addresses / A-Records (199.34.228.100), or CNAME Records (ghs.google.com) that enable you to make this change.
You can change your nameservers by clicking the Alternative Nameservers button.
- Read the next section to learn how to change Nameservers.
- Click here to learn how to alter both CNAMES and A-Records.
You can change your nameservers by clicking the Alternative Nameservers button.
This will show a warning. Changing your nameservers will cause your domain's email address to stop working and any Weebly site connected to the domain to be taken offline. If you change the Nameservers your email and website will both need to be reconfigured with your new host. If you want to use a site with another host, but continue using your Weebly email then you should ask your new host for A-Records of CNAMES (as changing these doesn't affect email).
Once you click "Change name servers" you can enter the new nameservers in the provided box. If your provider gave you more than two nameservers just use the first two they gave you. This will work perfectly fine. We promise.
Click Save and you're all done. Though it can take anywhere from an hour to 24 hours for nameserver changes to take full effect.
You'll also notice that all the other records on the page have now vanished. That's because those other records are controlled by the nameservers.

If you want to bring the records back (and host the site with Weebly again) just click the Weebly's Nameservers button and you'll be set.
Editing A-Records and CNAME Records
If the new host has provided you with IP Addresses (A-Records) or CNAME Records it only takes a few quick steps to point your domain to their system. Click the Edit button in the Host Records section.

In most situations all you need to do is replace our IP Address with either IP or CNAME provided by your new host. Just delete our IP and paste the new information into each field.
The system automatically knows if you entered a CNAME or A-Record and handles each one accordingly. The changes will immediately reflect in your settings, but it may take up to four hours for the changes to take effect.
If you ever want to use your Domain with a Weebly site again, just click the Reset Default Settings link.
